A newly added public light installation in the Exchange District has people whistling. Called Listening Lights, the 3D interactive light sculpture reacts when people whistle a merry tune. Located right along Market Avenue – home to the Centennial Concert Hall, Pantages Playhouse Theatre and the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, this development initiative was spearheaded by CentreVenture and the City of Winnipeg. With the goal to illuminate and create pedestrian-friendly walkways throughout the Exchange district, Listening Lights and the streetscape enhancements along Market Avenue were Phase I, part of a $6 million streetscaping injection. Ongoing streetscaping enhancements will be realized on selected streets over the next few years totalling $5.3 million.
